Foxcroft Academy is an independent high school founded in 1823 on the principle that knowledge is power. Foxcroft Academy provides a rigorous college and career preparatory academic curriculum designed to produce informed and active global citizens. As a result, students from Foxcroft Academy often receive acceptance letters from many schools ranked in the top 100 of the U.S. News and World Report’s rankings.
The founding principles of Foxcroft are respect, integrity, and responsibility. The school strives to create a safe and wholesome learning environment with an ever-evolving curriculum that helps students discover what they are passionate about.
As a boarding student at Foxcroft, you’ll experience a school community which will help you develop self-reliance, independence, and accountability all the while learning to appreciate diverse perspectives of the globalized world.
Foxcroft hosts students from 13 different Maine communities as well as domestic and international boarding students. Of the schools 425 students, 90 international students diversify the community and represent more than 20 countries. The cultural experience at Foxcroft Academy does not stop at the American Dream!
Meet your new friends in the school’s 150+ academic courses, on the 23 varsity sports teams, or in the 20+ clubs. Foxcroft Academy is surrounded by pristine lakes, mountains, rivers, and woods, and the opportunities are endless. Explore the beautiful nature or nearby city life or spend your weekends hanging out on the 125 acres campus, which includes four modern residence halls, five playing fields, four tennis courts, a basketball court, and a main academic complex.
ACADEMICS
Foxcroft Academy values excellent academics and is dedicated to providing personal education that challenges and inspires its students. The school’s curriculum and small average class sizes of 13 foster the development of clear and effective communication, creative and practical problem solving, self-directed and lifelong learning, responsible and involved citizenship, and integrative and informed thinking. Students at Foxcroft are encouraged to not only develop known interests, but also explore new horizons.
The school recognizes the importance of incorporating new technological advances in the classroom. To enable students to succeed in an increasingly tech-driven educational landscape, Foxcroft launched its 1-to-1 iPad Program and was the first high school in the state of Maine to provide an iPad to each and every student.
SUBJECTS
The academic course range at Foxcroft is wide and diverse. Its more than 150 standard courses are spread across 8 sections:

In addition, the school offers many Honors sections, College Preparatory levels, as well as 10 Advanced Placement courses. As of 2019, the school is also a recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma Program School. Finally, students in the 11th and 12th grade may choose to attend Tri-County Technical Center for career-oriented programs.
THE BOARDING EXPERIENCE
Residence life is an important part of the Foxcroft Academy experience. Here, students form lifelong bonds, and the combination of enjoyment and personal responsibility transforms the students into young men and women prepared to handle the entirety of their university experience. They also get the priceless advantage of friendships based on time spent far beyond the classrooms and hallways of their academic experience.

SPARE TIME
There is always an abundance of fun and exciting opportunities for students to experience on the weekends. What about a shopping excursion to L.L. Bean in Freeport or a trip to some of Maine’s finest skiing areas? If you love the outdoors, the Moosehead Lake Region, Baxter State Park, Acadia National park, and Mount Borestone are nearby, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, white water rafting, whale watching, biking, and rock climbing.
Cultural events are abound in the surrounding towns, and during the longer breaks, students have the opportunity to go on school-sponsored trips to places such as Portland, Boston, and New York.
